FAQ
Questions, answered
If your question isn't here and you already have an account, open a support ticket; it goes straight to an admin and you'll get a reply on the site.
Getting in
Why can't I just sign up?
Because the Hollow is built around people opening their houses to each other, and that works better when everyone arrived through a guild that vouched for them. You need either a join code or an approved leader application. There's more on the reasoning on the About page.
How do I get a join code?
Ask your guild master, community leader, or an officer. They can see both codes from their guild page and share them. We can't hand out codes for a guild on their behalf.
My join code isn't working.
Codes are retired the moment a leader regenerates them, so the most likely explanation is that yours is simply out of date. Ask your guild for the current code. If a freshly issued code still fails, that's worth reporting.
Do I need a code for every guild I'm in?
You need one code per guild, but only one account. Redeem additional codes from your dashboard and all of your memberships live under the same login.
Does the site cost anything?
No. There's no subscription, no premium tier, and nothing to buy.
Your account and your privacy
Who can see my showcases?
Members of the Hollow can see them. The wider public cannot, unless you tick “show publicly” on that specific showcase, and even then, signed-out visitors are never shown who made it. Your name isn't hidden from them in the interface; it genuinely isn't sent to their browser.
Is my gamertag visible to everyone?
To signed-in members, yes, in the places where it's the whole point: the open house board and in-game house links. It is not shown to signed-out visitors.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Open a support ticket and ask, or write to the address on the Privacy page. Tell us whether you want your posts removed too, or left in place with your name detached.
Do you track me or run ads?
No analytics, no advertising, no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. The only things stored in your browser are your login session and, if you've toggled it, whether you want the animated background on.
Guilds and contests
How do I find a guild to join?
Once you're signed in, browse the guild finder. It lists every guild and community in the Hollow and flags the ones currently recruiting. Open one that interests you and send its staff a request; they follow up with you on the site. Nobody is added to a guild automatically.
Does joining here affect my in-game guild?
Not at all. The two are entirely separate. The site can't invite anyone to an ESO guild or remove them from one. Even when an account is banned site-wide, guild leaders are told explicitly that any in-game action is their own call.
Can I run a contest for my guild?
Yes, if you're a guild master, community leader, or officer. You set the judging criteria, pick judges, choose whether members vote on the site or elsewhere, and publish results when you're ready. A guild can have two contests running at once.
Can I judge a contest I've entered?
No. Entrants are removed from the judging pool automatically, whatever the contest's settings, and you can't vote for your own entry. Being disqualified only removes your entry from scoring; you can still vote and judge.
How do I submit a guide?
Write one from the Guides page. Guides are the one thing on the site reviewed before publication, so yours stays invisible to other members until staff approve it. If it's sent back you'll get a note explaining why and can reply, edit, and resubmit.
The furnishing database
Where does the furnishing data come from?
UESP, imported and re-tagged. Around nine thousand furnishings are in so far, covering craftable recipes and a portion of the collectible furnishings.
Why are some items missing recipe materials or a source?
Because the import is genuinely incomplete and we'd rather show a gap than invent data. Materials have been pulled for part of Woodworking so far; source tagging covers most non-craftables but leaves a chunk marked “Unknown,” largely achievement-furnisher items with no clean data source. More gets added over time.
Why do most furnishings have no picture?
Images are uploaded by hand by curators rather than scraped, so coverage builds slowly. The placeholder mushroom just means nobody has photographed that piece yet.
When something goes wrong
An image or link in the gallery is broken.
Member content is linked rather than uploaded, so if the original is deleted or moved, it breaks here too. The gallery shows a fallback when it detects this. If it's your own post, edit it and update the link; if it's someone else's, the report button flags it for staff.
I found a bug.
Please report it: the site is new and much of it is lightly travelled. Open a support ticket with what you were doing and what happened, and a screenshot if you have one.
I've been banned and think it's a mistake.
A ban is decided by a site admin, not by your guild leader, though a leader can recommend one with evidence. Since a ban blocks sign-in, you can't use support tickets to appeal, so write to the address on the Privacy page.
