The Housing Editor
A guide to decorating your home with the Housing Editor, from placing and purchasing to tracking down that one missing chair.
Ahh, now the true fun begins, friend! Once a home's deed rests safe in your pocket, it's time to make it truly yours with the Housing Editor. Summon it forth with a tap of F5 on your keyboard, or right on the d-pad and circle for you PlayStation folk, or right on the d-pad and B for the Xbox crowd. Within, you'll find several tabs and categories, all sorted neatly to spare you the trouble of digging through clutter.
- Place Tab: This is where the real decorating happens, friend. Here you'll find every furnishing and collectible you've gathered on your travels, be it plundered from the wild, bought from a vendor's stall, traded from a fellow adventurer, or crafted with your own two hands. Draw from your inventory or your bank, whichever holds what you seek. And a tip from an old bard: you needn't even open the editor for this, just right click the item in your inventory and choose "Place" to set it down in any home you own.
- Purchase Tab: Fancy something new? This tab holds a grand catalog of furnishings ready for crown purchase, ร la carte, take only what catches your eye. Most of what you'll find here can also be earned through crafting or other honest means in the world, so don't feel pressured to spend coin you'd rather keep. Even if you're not buying, browse a while, it's as fine a way as any to see the full breadth of what Tamriel has to offer.
- Retrieve Tab: Placed something down and regretted it, or simply wish to move it elsewhere? No need to go hunting through every room. The Retrieve tab lists every item you've placed, and even points you toward it, direction and distance both, quite the trick for finding one chair among a dozen identical chairs.
And should your list run long, friend, simply search each tab by name to narrow things down, no need to sift through the whole pile by hand.
